The HIMA F8650 is a high-performance central processing unit (CPU) module for industrial automation and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). It belongs to the F35 series from HIMA.

Safety Level and Standards

  • Complies with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards, meeting SIL 3 safety requirements, and is suitable for industrial processes with high safety risks.

Core Architecture

  • Redundant Design: Utilizes a Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture with three independent, synchronously operating microprocessors. A 2oo3 (two-out-of-three) hardware voting mechanism ensures continued operation even in the event of a single-point failure.

  • Processor and Memory: Some variants integrate Intel 386EX or PowerPC 604e microprocessors. Typical memory configurations range from 512 KB to 1 MB. Certain models are equipped with 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD to support complex computations and large-scale data storage.

Communication Interfaces

  • Supports RS-485 serial communication. Selected variants also support Ethernet, USB, PROFIBUS DP, and other fieldbus and network interfaces, enabling easy integration into existing industrial networks.
